Aurora Contractors recently completed both phases of the new 348,000 square foot Toll Drive Residence and Dining Hall at Stony Brook University. The 5 story complex includes four towers with suite-style housing, over 300 rooms and 760 beds, formally named Chavez Hall and Tubman Hall. The project features a modern architectural design employing ironspot brick, cast stone and glass, with dining and a hotel-like feel, with mixed-use spaces on the lower level and high-end, suite-style housing above. The project included the 60,000 square foot East Side Dining center that connects the two complexes, and will seat over 1,000 students. The project began in the summer of 2014 and was completed in the fall of 2016. The project also includes a commons building, which links the two complexes and serves as a social and activity hub, complete with a Starbucks. The project was built LEED Gold.
