New Construction

Architect: Rosenbaum Design Group

Location: Garden City, NY

Project Specifications:

  • Owner: Capital Fitness
  • Total Square Footage: 70,000
  • Construction Budget: $12,000,000

Aurora Contractors was the Construction Manager for the first New York location of XSport Fitness Center. The gym provides its members with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The gym includes a full service child care center, lap pool, basketball court, spa, fitness studios and café.

Its location in the basement of the Roosevelt Field Mall provided numerous construction and logistical issues. For the pool and basketball court to be constructed, structural columns supporting the mall above had to be removed and the slab had to be excavated. An extensive shoring plan was developed to provide support for the existing mall’s foundation walls and structure. Click here to see video

Aurora also took painstaking measures to reduce the dust and other airborne debris associated with the demolition, in order to minimize the impact of construction on the existing mall tenants.
