Aurora Contractors was the General Contractor for the new Cinema 16 DeLux, a sixteen-theater
multiplex motion picture showcase. This contemporary building houses 16 stadium-type
presentation auditoria, built of structural steel, masonry, synthetic stucco, aluminum
and glass.
The project presented many challenges due to major design changes throughout construction,
some occurring just weeks prior to the grand opening. In order to prevent the project
from incurring significant delays, Aurora had the exterior prefabricated into panels
of metal studs and synthetic stucco so they could be erected in the winter without
tenting or heating the building.
Aurora also phased this building in three self-sustaining structures. This method
allowed work to continue while the lobby was completely redesigned and provided
for an extremely safe project site.
This theater has proven to be not only the best-attended theater on Long Island,
but also the most revenue-producing cinema in the National Amusements inventory
of Multiplexes.
