New Construction

Architect: Greenberg Farrow

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Project Specifications:

  • Total Square Footage: 350,000
  • Construction Budget: $180,000,000

Aurora was the Construction Manager for IKEA’s largest construction endeavor in the United States. The project involved the construction of a new retail store on a 48 acre site, as well as ancillary developments. The IKEA store comprises a main building with 350,000 square feet of retail space with one story of parking below the building, and an elevated and attached truck loading dock with below grade and on-grade parking.

The ancillary developments included demolishing numerous existing buildings and their related systems, decommissioning and filling in an existing dry dock, performing off-site road work, removal and restoration of the piers and bulk heading that border the project site, restoring and relocating the existing gantry cranes, providing a ferry/water taxi dock to service the site and providing a waterfront esplanade.
