Aurora, acting as General Contractor, has had the great fortune of working with a valued customer, Borders Books, for approximately ten years. We have constructed over 200,000 square feet of space for them throughout Manhattan and Long Island, NY.
Our first project with Borders was to construct their flagship store on the concourse level of the World Trade Center. The Port Authority’s strict building requirements and the unique challenges of working in the Trade Center (such as installing escalator banks over active subways lines) made for a challenging and rewarding project.
Aurora completed the construction of Border's new flagship store after its original flagship store was lost in the tragic events of September 11th. The new location at 100 Broadway, formerly known as The American Surety Company Building, is located in a historic building in downtown Manhattan.
