Educational and Institutional Facilities
Aurora has played a large part in improving the public works of Long Island
and the New York Metropolitan area. We have a vast array of
experience in numerous public sectors, including schools, libraries, offices, and
fire departments.
Aurora is well versed in dealing with the challenges associated with these projects (i.e. the coordination of direct, prime contractors and the impact of weather). An
example of Aurora’s abilities in this sector were highlighted during the construction
of the largest high school on Long Island, Sachem East High School, a 420,000 square foot facility encompassing
an Olympic size pool, second floor gymnasium and auditorium, a three-story curtain
wall and 25 acres of various sporting fields. A project of this size and scope is
a challenge under the best of conditions, but to have accomplished the construction
objectives with record snow and rainfall is an extraordinary undertaking.
